Wii Sports Resort - Details

Wii Sports Resort Power Cruising

Wii Sports Resort is the the latest game from Nintendo which includes Nintendo's new accessory, the Wii MotionPlus. Sports Resort is not just a sequel to the best selling computer game of all time but takes gaming to a whole new level. Sports Resort is a new collection of fun sports games that anyone can pick up and play. It will be the first title to take advantage of Nintendo's just-announced Wii MotionPlus accessory (a motion-sensing booster), which gives players the most responsive and realistic experience possible than the current Wii Remote.

Each copy of the spring-scheduled Wii Sports Resort will come packed with a Wii MotionPlus accessory. The Wii MotionPlus accessory plugs into the base of the Wii Remote controller and, combined with the accelerometer and sensor bar will accurately sense the controller's position in space, provides an experience that gives players an even greater sense of immersion, mimicking your every move.

Wii Sports Resort takes place on a tropical island. A wide range of activities will keep players coming back for one more round. Some sample activities include Sword Play (Kendo), Power Cruising (Jet-skiing) (racing a water scooter) and Disc Dog (Frisbee-throwing), which involves accurately tossing a disc to a cute, Mii-like dog as well as other resort-oriented activities.

Kendo (Sword Play)

You can practice your sword technique, slicing, chopping and sharpening a large pencil, before entering an aerial arena to combat an AI or human opponent. Best tackled dual-handed your sword blows drive an opponent towards the edge of your aerial platform. Hit them hard enough and they tumble into the ocean. Handy B-button blocks offer respite - unless you weave your blade past your opponent's.

The blades may be skinned to suggest lightsabers, but the 'strike and defend' counterbalance is more on par with samurai.

Disc Dog

Throw a frisbe towards a marker in the sand. The closer virtual Wii Dog grabs the disc to a set marker, the higher the points. There are ten throws with a maximum potential of 1,000 points.

All you need do is seize a horizontally held remote and nunchuk (a plug hides the dongle's nunchuk slot) like the grips of a jetski (or motorbike handlebars). Rotate them together and you twist the handlebars, turning your tiny craft. The nature of the sport doesn't allow MotionPlus to really show off. While holding B accelerates, revving the remote gives your vessel extra kick. Pass through the gates to score point.
